Kozi

Accessibility

Usable by everyone

We want anyone in Ontario to be able to search for a home, and any agent to run their business, on Kozi.

What we aim for

We build this site and the Kozi app against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we treat the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) as the standard we're working toward, not a box to tick.

What that means in practice

  • Everything you can do with a mouse you can do with a keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
  • Text and controls meet contrast minimums, and the page still works if you zoom to 200%.
  • Animation respects your system's reduced-motion setting. Nothing moves that doesn't have to.
  • Images that carry meaning have descriptions; decorative ones are skipped by screen readers.
  • Forms have visible labels, and errors say what went wrong next to the field.

Where we know we fall short

Listing photos and descriptions come from the MLS feed as the listing agent wrote them, so some lack useful alt text. The interactive map in the app is hard to use without a mouse; the list view carries the same results, and we're working on keyboard navigation for the map itself.

Tell us when something doesn't work

If you hit a barrier anywhere on Kozi, email jvalente@kozi.homes with the page and what you were trying to do. A person reads it, and fixing it goes ahead of new features.
